    Power, Patriarchy and Women’s Agency in Microfinance

    Technological innovation and environmental degradation have been prime agents for the existence and altering of social systems, historically world over. If latter provides basic resources for survival and sustenance and builds essential link between man and nature for human existence; the other provides tools (machines, industries etc.) with which to exploit resources for the same by earning livelihood (central to work). There are the changes seen and experienced not only in material world in terms of change in economic production from agriculture to industry, but also in terms of gender relations, with respect to women and work; especially because their work has been considered as informal and soft menial household work. Various theorists have studied this relationship between women and work (especially in the context of rural agriculture and allied activities), by framing an essential link between women, production and technological innovations. The paper focuses on the changing nature of work in relation to women’s participation in agriculture, as central to development. Then it looks at women empowerment thorough microfinance assistances.

The human life no longer remained the same. Later with biotechnological advancement there was rapid change in the quality of life. It is also considered as one of the most controversial scientific advancement. Generally, biotechnology means application of technology to the practice of medicine.

    Jurisprudence of Delivery in Consumer Contract in ECommerce: A Critical Appraisal of The Consumer Protection Law in India

    E-commerce market is growing tremendously due to the many advantages it provides to consumers and traders as well. On the other hand, concerns of consumer with respect to delayed delivery, wrong delivery, non-delivery and improper information pertaining to delivery of goods or services are also evident from the numbers of online consumer complaints. The Consumer Protection Act, 1986 and the Sale of Goods Act, 1930 may sufficiently protect consumers in traditional market; however, both the Acts fail to recognise the unique features of e-commerce, which have raised the new forms unease to consumers. The provisions of the newly enacted Consumer Protection Act, 2019 are structurally weak and inefficient to protect consumers in e-commerce

    Technology and Sickness: A Study of Small Engineering Enterprises in the district of Howrah, West Bengal

    In India, Small Enterprises (SEs) {formerly Small Scale Industries (SSIs)} are regarded as the most powerful organizations for socio-economic development. Among different states of India, West Bengal (WB), is notable for sickness of its engineering sector in the district of Howrah, the former Birmingham or Sheffield of the East. Howrah Small Engineering sector today has lost its glorious position in Indian economy due to reasons such as lack of adequate technical know-how of managerial personnel and the lack of application of updated and appropriate technology. The present paper primarily aims at detecting how far and to what extent the lack of technical knowledge of the managerial personnel is responsible for sickness in Small Engineering Enterprises of Howrah and suggesting some remedial measures for improvement of the prevailing situation.
