Abstract
The issue of FDI in multi brand retail has polarized political opinion in the
country. Yet, clear economic arguments have not been forthcoming. One was
expecting at least a white paper as a policy note or extensive public debate on the issue based on clear cut arguments, neither of which has emerged. The purpose of this article is to pinpoint clear economic arguments that should characterize such a debate.
