dc.description.abstractThe professional competency of Legal Aid Counsels serves as the foundation of legal aid services within District courts, High courts, and the Supreme Court legal aid framework. The lack of proficient professional skills has led to significant distrust among beneficiaries in legal aid services. Based on primary data collected during three field studies on legal aid counsels conducted in 2017, 2019, and 2023, this research article provides a critical analysis of the essential professional skills of LACs, including argumentation, articulation, presentation, and drafting. Furthermore, this research article assesses the repercussions of LACs' insufficient professional skills on the overall legal aid system.
